My patient opted out of SMS reminders, can I opt them back in?
This article describes the process needed for patients to receive SMS reminders again after opting out.
If a patient opted out of SMS reminders, only patients can opt themselves back in due to telecommunication regulations. This will be a two step process.
- First, your patient will have to text "UNSTOP" to the same number that they received messages from. Currently, this phone number is 201-603-7047.
- Then, your patient will also have to opt in to text messages through the onboarding process.
- For a clinic with an active patient portal feature: Your patient will login to their patient portal, navigate to the profile page, and toggle SMS to "Yes".
-
- For a clinic without an active patient portal feature: Your patient should click on the "Complete forms" or "Manage my appointment" button from their confirmation or reminder email. In the "Contact information and Emergency Contact" section they should click the box marked "text me a reminder and other helpful updates" and then "Save and Continue".
